sadly these packages won't work on evolution 2.22 at least not on ubuntu 8.04 They don't include the evolution plugin yet, so they don't work with any evolution... :-) With a bit of luck we can package it for the next batch of packages. Do you have deb packages of the various bits required to implement the exchange plugin for evolution (and whatever its prerequisites are - libmapi??? anythign else??) ? I added your repositories, which seemed to be fine even despite getting errors when running your suggested commands to add the GPG key. So, now I've found openchange client, and libmapi, but no sign of the plugin for evolution. Do you have a deb for that? Cheers, Jamie (Running Kubuntu Gutsy) Sorry, no Evolution plugin packages yet. The next batch of packages will hopefully contain the evolution plugin as well. that's nice jelmer, do you think they will be released with evolution 2.23 or before that which means still for evolution 2.22 ? Not sure yet. It'll depend on whatever is available in Debian at the time I build these packages :-) Hi, Jelmer, please, is there any progress in development of Exchange/Evolution (openchange) plugin working on Ubuntu 8.04? Contemporary there is no fully working solution. Current version (2.22) of Exchange-evolution connector (Ximian) does not handle some calendar oriented operations (such as Free/Busy info) correctly, Brutus does not work with Hardy and Evolution 2.22. at all. Please, do You think that the package could be released in the foreseeable future? Thank you very much for answer. Dag. Hi Dag, The OpenChange plugin only works with Evolution 2.23 as far as I know so that would have to be packaged for Hardy first. Another issue is that the plugin can't be packaged before evolution is relicensed under some GPLv3 compatible license (it's GPLv2-only atm and OpenChange/Samba are GPLv3). Novell is working on the latter. Cheers, Jelmer Hi Jelmer, Is there any update on Novell's progress with relicensing Evolution? I was hoping this would have been resolved by the time Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 was released but after upgrading I am still unable to connect to my Exchange 2007 mail server. Any tips on any linux mail client that I could use to connect to Exchange 2007? Thanks, Tom. Hi Tom, There is some progress (see http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2008-July/msg00065.html) but afaik the actual licensing changes haven't happened yet. Also, the plugin currently requires a version of Evolution that's not packaged yet for Debian or Ubuntu. HTH, Jelmer Hi, Jelmer, thanks for fast response. It is good news for me. Have a nice rest of the week end. Regards, Dag. Soooooo...is there any progress on this?? I've been compiling stuff for hours and I certainly haven't made any progress =) I can't find the packages you mention even in Debian Experimental? Where did they go? The packages are still in Debian experimental, e.g. see http://packages.debian.org/experimental/libmapi-dev. I've now also uploaded a evolution-mapi package to Ubuntu (waiting in REVU, will hopefully be in Jaunty). No packages for Debian yet, as that doesn't have evolution 2.24 or higher yet. Is this working with Exchange 2007 in Ubuntu lucid? I installed evolution-mapi but I get Auth failed every time I try to connect. Yeah, it should work with Exchange 2007 in Ubuntu Lucid. |
